Dessy Di Lauro's Neo-Ragtime:
Los Angeles-based award-winning singer Dessy Di Lauro delivers a unique flavor of original music self-described as ‘Feathered Fro-Hawk Futuristic Art Deco Centric Harlem Renaissance Hep Music’, with a live show incorporating elements from the ''Speakeasy Era''. Her Neo-Ragtime Jamboree show transports you back to the days of the Harlem Renaissance in the 1920-30’s with her added flavor of urban contemporary edge.

On stage, Di Lauro is backed by tap dancers and her top-notch band led by her producer/musical director/pianist, Ric'key Pageot, who himself, is heading out for his 3rd world tour with the Queen of Pop, Madonna, later this year.

Di Lauro released her latest album, ‘This Is Neo-Ragtime’ in 2013 to critics acclaim, voted ‘Album of The Year’ by the highly regarded Soultracks.com Music Critics. Di Lauro is set to release her new EP this summer followed by a tour in parallel with Madonna’s Rebel Heart Tour across select cities in North America and Europe.

AFROPUNK praises the vocalist’s “...Blend [of] hip-hop, soul, RnB, and ragtime into a sound and style that looks back on the last 100 years of black culture while simultaneously looking forward.”

Music Connection Magazine remarks Di Lauro as one of the nation’s  “Hot 100 Live Unsigned Artists and Bands’’.  They praise ‘’… One doesn’t expect to see such a level of ability and preparation in a small club environment. Musical director Ric’key Pageot deserves a great deal of credit for organizing and directing such a spectacle, but it is clear that the star is Dessy Di Lauro…’’

LA Weekly also raves, “Di Lauro's honeyed vocals wind sinuously through a merry jumble of speakeasy-era stride piano and sophisticatedly modern R&B arrangements. Her original songs are smart, sassy and sensual, layered with funky horn retorts and jazzy harmonies.”

In December 2014, Di Lauro and Pageot premiered, to an outstanding public reception, their self-produced stage-production show, ''The Jamboree starring Dessy Di Lauro'' at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas inside the Rose. Rabbit. Lie. ballroom with a series of shows leading up to New Year's Eve.

Dessy Di lauro’s Neo-Ragtime is not just a show, it’s an experience. Women and men are encouraged to come dressed dapper, and be ready to shake a tail feather.

D.on Darox & The Melody Joy Bakers:
They are called D.on Darox & The Melody Joy Bakers. They're a talented 5 piece band based out of Southern California that plays original music combining roots Americana with Gypsy swing and a New Orleans vibe. The band is lead by a brilliant, modern day nomad, and celebrator of life, that should have been born in another era. He goes by the name D.on Darox.
(Pronounced Dee On - Duh-Rocks, or Da Row -"if you're French" ...the period is intentional) He has a history of performing solo, on many stages and streets, across the United States; until finally ending up in Southern California in 2009, where he met like minded players who shared his vision, passion and joined his mission.

THE MISSION : Help good people shake off the bullshit, or in other words, forget their troubles, celebrate life and make them dance their asses off!"

The Melody Joy Bakers are equally at home busking on the street or playing honky tonk joints, seedy whiskey lounges, grand theaters and run down and abused grange halls across America. Their high energy shows and impeccable attire have won the hearts of the youth and the aged and those lost and inebriated somewhere in between. Appealing to the knockout Rockabilly, Psychobilly, Avant Gaurde Jazzabily, and R&B fans they have been known to frequent, or at least appear once, on stages such as Harvelle's (Santa Monica and Long Beach), the Ink 'n Iron Festival on the Queen Mary,(Long Beach) New Noise Festival (Santa Barbara), Bombay's, "The Sewer", (both Ventura) The Lobero Theater (Santa Barbara), Cinema Bar (Culver City), Old Town Pub (Pasadena), Sassafras Saloon (Hollywood) and other various reputable locations on the Sunset Strip (Los Angeles)

In 2015 they completed two tours. Their first was in the spring and consisted of playing Autsin's SxSW, and in New Orleans for French Quarter Fest. In the summer they completed a tour where they had the pleasure of opening for Reverend Horton Heat, and Merle Haggard for a festival out in Nashville TN. Not only have they shared stages with Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings as well as Black Joe Lewis, but have opened for other great acts such as The Legendary Shack Shakers, The God Damn Gallows, and Big Sandy and His Fly Rite Trio... just to name a few.

DISCOGRAPHY:
Their first album, "Agonizing, Sad Beauties" was self released in April 2012 and labeled "the perfect soundtrack for the new Depression,"via the VC Reporter, who also awarded them 2nd place in a vote by the Ventura County community for Best Local Music Recording (E.G: http://www.vcreporter.com/cms/story/detail/best_of_entertainment/11257/).
Their second full length album, "Tango", was self released August 2013. Recorded and mixed by Nick Luca at New Monkey Studio, Van Nuys, CA.

THE MJB STORY:
The Melody Joy Bakers were named after a heckler and candidate running for city office of their town (Ventura, Ca. ). She threatened, that if she took office she would do everything in her power to make street performances illegal in the city. Her name was Melody Joy Baker. The band attended city council meetings and candidate forums to represent artists and the importance of preserving self expression and protecting one of its most important and valuable, yet overlooked, stages and longest running mediums that has fostered performances since the beginning of time, not to mention a stage that is meant to belong to the people - the street!

We are proud to say that the candidate (Melody Joy Baker) did not win the election and to this day the band continues to play one of their favorite stages, while holding onto their name like a badge of honor,(even if it is a rather long name to remember.) D.on Darox & The Melody Joy Bakers welcome all performers traveling through to use one of their favorite stage,s or in other words, "side walks," in Ventura, California, and not be hassled by the law while doing so. We recommend the corner of California Street & Main Street.

Along with preserving the right to expression in their little part of the world that they call home, D.on Darox & The Melody Joy Bakers are also pro active advocates for street performers across the country. They enjoy helping other street performers and artists across the country preserve and maintain their rights to perform publicly in their own cities, or at very least lend aid and advice towards creating platforms for which they can.
