Dessy DiLauro:

Dessy Di Lauro's Neo-Ragtime Jamboree transports you back to the days of the Harlem Renaissance juck joints with choreographed dancing, costumes, live music, along with circus acts while still adding a contemporary edge. ''It isn't just a show, it's an experience'' - Cevin Clarke, Harvelle's Owner.

Di Lauro's music, self-penned as ''Neo-Ragtime'', is a blend of modern R&B and jazz blended with '20s and '30s ragtime and stride piano.

''Dessy Di Lauro’s style impressively sticks to the ragtime theme while reaching out to different tones and variations'' - SoundCloud Music Reviews

''Her original songs are smart, sassy and sensual, layered with funky horn retorts and jazzy harmonies'' - LA Weekly

As usual, Dessy Di Lauro is backed by her top-notch band and horn section, The Hep Kats, led by her musical director/partner, Ric'key Pageot (Madonna, Cirque du Soleil, Earth Wind and Fire).

Di Lauro also puts together a menu of her favorite Prohibition Era drinks available at the bar for the evening.

Also spinning between sets will be DJ UnieQ, whom you may have seen at The Floor Improv every month in Hollywood. Eva La Dare will be performing circus acts.

So get your flapper dresses out, your bow ties, suspenders and fedora hats and come play the part at Dessy Di Lauro's Neo-Ragtime Jamboree exclusively at Harvelle's.

D.on Darox & The Melody Joy Bakers: “Was it Louis Armstrong who said the blues weren’t necessarily intended to be an expression of sadness, but rather a cure for it? In that spirit, Agonizing Sad Beauties is the perfect soundtrack for the new depression — the fiddle parts alone could replace a week’s worth of Prozac. Soulful, poignant and skillfully executed, this recording is at once nostalgic and refreshing. Imagine young Tom Waits cradling an accordion on Bourbon Street with a full band beside him and a fifth of whiskey at his feet. The band calls it dirty gypsy — indeed, it seems to leave a gritty residue on the listener. A sample of its well-crafted and memorable lyrics: “You pushed me up against the glass of the Nicholby’s thrift shop, which used to be an antique store and before that it was another thrift shop, and you smiled a smile that you don’t hand out too often.” ” Michel Cicero - Ventura County Reporter
