Orlando Napier is a soul singer-songwriter and jazz/blues pianist from Los Angeles. His music ranges from soul-infused pop and rock & roll to country & western and even some hip hop. Napier cut his teeth as a performer playing venues in and around Santa Barbara, California, where he still retains a large and loyal fan base. He began his musical journey later than most at the age of 20 but his raw natural abilities prompted the encouragement of his peers and Napier soon decided that music was his calling. He is always writing and recording new music and has no interest in doing much else. Orlando was crowned the best blues voice on California's central coast in 2009 , after which he was invited to Memphis to perform at the International Blues Competition in which he excelled and was among the finalists. At 24-years-old, he was the youngest blues player in the competition. These days you'll mostly find Orlando playing venues up an down Southern California's coast with his R&B band. His father, Hugo Napier(tenor sax), joins the quartet and has never missed a gig. "Orlando is one of those rare, hard-working showmen with a great natural ability and a quickly increasing notoriety. You'll need only hear a few bars of his music and a few impassioned phrases to know you're in for an inspiring night of music."
They say having connections in the industry can be invaluable, but connections only get you so far in a blind audition on The Voice Season 2.
In 2008, Justin Hopkins spent nine months playing the guitar in the house band on The Carson Daly Show.
The Voice host admitted he hogged Justin’s talents, but told him it was time to share those talents with the judges.
But Justin started performing long before Carson’s show. In 2004 he formed the band Justin Hopkins & The Guilt in California. He recorded his first album, Here Goes Nothing Vol. 1, in 2008 and his second album, We Are Where We Came From, followed soon after.
He took to The Voice stage to prove he was more than just a guitarist and was picked up by judge Cee Lo Green.
Justin, it looks like Carson Daly will be announcing your music and not the other way around this time!
