Shere: Shere, pronounced “sheer”, means song in Hebrew. Shere was born in Israel
to a family of peaceful musicians and farmers. His family fled during the 1991
Gulf War; Shere was only 8 months old when they relocated to Venice,
California, where he spent his infancy and early life on a free-jazz musician
commune. His first instrument was the drums, and after that he learned how to
play guitar, bass, piano, harmonica, and also how to sing. Shere is a free
spirit who writes soulful and insightful songs. His live performances are raw
and continue to evolve and grow with a sense of maturity brought on by life
experience. His music is often compared to Jeff Buckley, Wilco, and Ryan
Adams. Shere has been in many bands throughout LA, and has played drums for
MAETAR, his father, Itai Disraeli, and uncle, Hagai Izraeli’s world groove,
funk band, along with violinist, Lili Haydn. His other musical influences
include: Billy Higgins, James Gadson, Scotty Barnhart, Paula Gabriel, Dannie
Hofmann, C.C. White, Nova Blue, Peter Buck, & Avi Sills. Outside of his music
world he is a certified permaculture designer (sustainable human environment
designer), beekeeper, urban farmer, advocate of peace, and proponent for
taking care of the earth, its resources, and all life.
