EM The Master is a critically-acclaimed British pianist and singer-songwriter, (actress, activist, and recent New York Times Bestselling Author of CHANNEL KINDNESS, a book co-authored with Lady Gaga.)
Grounded in brutal honesty and an exploration of humanity - the good, the dark, the wild - EM’s musical style is unique, due to her broad background. Unlike anything out there today, EM The Master fuses rock, jazz, classical, and pop as well as theatre, creating an eclectic sound. Trained as a classical pianist from the age of 4, EM grew up performing on large stages including The Royal Festival Hall in London, with renowned concert pianist Lang Lang, and the Fazioli Concert Hall in Italy, before venturing into other styles and genres.
A powerhouse performer and creative - with a mission to make a difference - EM The Master is a true force of nature, who will cause tears and laughter in one performance. Her theatricality on stage is as captivating as the technical intensity of her classical solos. EM The Master is happy to resume her residency at Harvelles with her band EM & The Gems. She has also headlined legendary LA venues such as The Viper Room, The Mint and The Baked Potato. With two albums out, produced by GRAMMY-nominated Bruce Witkin (Aerosmith, Johnny Depp), this evening will also feature an array of new material.
EM is so excited to be opening up Harvelles after over a year of closed doors! Featuring current "Gems" Melvin Brannon Jr. (Booker T. Jones), Dylan Elise (Dave Yaden, Haley Reinhart), Mahesh Balasooriya (Arturo Sandoval, Henry Mancini), and Adam Ray Burton (Geoff Emerick). Expect high energy, madness, excellence and something you have never seen before.
"My driving force? Truth. I strive to express an honest portrayal of humanity. To accept, embrace and celebrate what it is to be human, a being and a force that embodies all things - extreme light and extreme darkness. I can be crazy and rock ‘n’ roll and mad as hell. I can be deep and sensitive and broken. I strive not to follow the guidelines and confines. The extreme variety in my creations mirror the complex reality of what it is to be human. My message is about being human. Good, bad, ugly - all of it. I have all of it, and so do you. I’m not just going to sing about light and the good stuff… I’m gonna sing about the dark, weird, sadistic fucked up stuff too…”
