Edi Roque plugs in his guitar and the atmosphere changes immediately. With every note and chord that fills up the room, the Brazilian-born and Los Angeles-based guitarist, composer and two-times nominated producer summons the spirit of Blues Rock with the passion and intimacy of a veteran.
His fourth full-length solo album, “Here to Stay” is a live statement of that. Produced by Edi himself and mixed by the legendary Lincoln Clapp (Stevie Ray Vaughan, Charlie Musselwhite, Tab Benoit, George Benson, Luther Vandross, etc.). “Here to Stay” also features a talented team of well known musicians such as Michael Leasure (Walter Trout, Phillip Sayce, Edgar Winter, Coco Montoya), Johnny Griparic (Richie Kotzen, Slash, Walter Trout), Malcolm Lukens (Roy Buchanam, Guitar Shorty, Danny Gaton), Dan Gerass (Roger Daltrey, Guitar Shorty). Born and raised in Sao Paulo, Brazil, he built his foundation for his Blues Rock guitar by listening to a very few records that he had access to as a teenager. To be precise, four albums played a major role in his musical development: Stevie Ray Vaugahn “In Step”, Gary Moore “Still Got the Blues”, Jimi Hendrix “Bold as Love” and Eric Clapton “From the Cradle” were responsible for showcasing what an electric guitar could do. “...and that was enough for me. As a child growing up and playing classical piano, the first time I heard Gary Moore I told my dad that I wanted to quit the piano lessons and become a guitarist”.
